CMS CEPCOR PIT CREATION - GROUNDBREAKING EXPERTISE THAT DELIVERS
PMR Construction recently completed a specialized £200,000 project for CMS Cepcor, involving the construction of a 1.8-meter-deep machine pit tailored to enhance CMS Cepcor’s operational efficiency. Spanning 12m by 14m, the pit was designed and built to accommodate heavy machinery within a safe, durable, and waterproof environment.
Scope of Work
The machine pit construction required several critical steps to ensure structural integrity, water resistance, and long-term durability:
- Saw Cutting and Breaking Out Existing Concrete Slab: Precision removal of the existing concrete slab prepared the site for deep excavation.
- Excavation of a 12m x 14m x 2m Deep Pit: Comprehensive excavation work created a stable foundation for the machine pit.
- Installation of Tanking and Waterbar: Specialized tanking and waterbar systems were installed to prevent water ingress, protecting equipment and maintaining a secure work environment.
- Casting New Reinforced Concrete Floor Slab and Walls: High-strength reinforced concrete was poured to create a robust foundation and pit walls capable of withstanding the demands of heavy machinery.
- Epoxy Paint Finish and Wall Painting: An epoxy finish was applied to the floor, along with painted walls, to ensure a smooth, durable surface and ease of maintenance.
- Installation of Handrail and Steps: To enhance safety, a handrail and steps were installed, allowing secure access to the pit.
Project Management Excellence
PMR Construction’s expert team followed a precise project management plan to complete this complex project safely and efficiently:
- Detailed Planning and Execution: Careful coordination of each phase, from saw cutting and excavation to concrete casting and finishing, minimized delays and ensured on-time completion.
- Strict Adherence to Safety Standards: Comprehensive safety protocols were implemented, particularly during excavation and concrete pouring, to protect workers and maintain site safety.
- Close Collaboration with CMS Cepcor: Consistent communication allowed PMR Construction to align with CMS Cepcor’s specifications and expectations, ensuring a seamless construction process.
Delivered on time and within budget, this project demonstrates PMR Construction’s capability to manage technically challenging industrial projects with an emphasis on quality, safety, and precision.
